Setting Apart ----
On June 15, 2018 We had the privilege of being set apart for our sacred calling by President M. Russell Ballard of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. It was such a wonderful opportunity and we could really feel the spirit of the Lord with us in that room.
President Ballard set Kyle apart and Elder Craig Christensen set me apart. Before we went, we had discussed some concerns we had about being able to fulfill this calling with each other and each of those concerns were addressed in the blessing. (And we had not discussed our concerns ahead of time with President Ballard or Elder Christensen so they couldn't have known what they were - the blessings they gave us were truly inspired) It's so wonderful how the Lord knows each one of us individually and what we need.
We were invited to bring our immediate family with us so we invited all our kids and their spouses along with my mom and dad. Kyle's parents have passed away but we felt them there with us and Kyle's brothers, Blaik and Mark were there representing his side of the family (sort of standing in for his parents - I know that meant a lot to him to have them there).
The thing I was most impressed with on being able to meet with president Ballard was the fact that it was such an honor to meet him, and yet, from the moment we walked into his office, WE felt like the honored guests. He made our whole family feel that way, as if he were extremely grateful to meet Us and that he was so grateful for our willingness to serve in the Lord's work. He was so humble and loving - the way you would picture a true disciple of the Savior to be. I will cherish that experience. It truly gave me strength to do this work.
