Service in Curacao (16 MAR 19)

DAY OF SERVICE

We spent the Day Clearing and cleaning up areas in a community youth camp here in Curacao.
The Branch members all met us at the camp.  It was really good to see such a good turn out.
Everyone wearing the yellow "Helping Hands" shirts so that we will be recognized.
We want people to know us so they will want to hear the message of the Restored Gospel of
Jesus Christ!  He spent His life in Service to others so Service is a very important part of our
ministering efforts as well.  We can do so much good as we work together to accomplish things in the communities where we live!

They gave everyone these t-shirts for helping
It was a whole Country organized day of service.

While working I got covered in little burrs.  These cute girls were trying to help me get them off.  😉

I spent the first part of the service just pulling weeds and carrying them to the truck.
Then I noticed a trimmer just laying there not being used, so I asked if I could use it.  The Branch president said that it was a little heavy and difficult to use and he looked unsure that I would be able to tackle the job.  I assured him that I have been using them my whole life so I picked it up and started using it.  I think everyone was a little surprised because when I stopped for a moment and turned around everyone was looking at me and, as you can see, taking pictures.  Elder Richards said, "You're my new hero, Did President Baird know you could do this when he married you? I've just added this to the list of things my future wife needs to know how to do."  lol.   I didn't think it was that big of a deal because I grew up mowing lawns....😉😂 but I guess it wasn't something they expected to see from a Mission President's wife... President Prez (the Branch President) even showed a picture of me at the District Conference the next day.   Kyle had gone to Aruba for District Conference and I stayed and participated from Curacao because the Heinrichs were still here.  He said in his talk that he hoped the good saints in Curacao were taking care of me in his absence....President Prez showed the picture and said that they are taking care of me but I'm plenty capable so he has nothing to worry about.

A Job Well Done!!!
