Transfer Week (Mar 5-9 2019)

Sister Patterson & Sister Christensen
So these are our newest missionaries.  They started off their mission with an adventure.  President Baird and I went to the airport to pick them up and they never came out.  After all the passengers had left we determined that they must have missed their plane and then we received a call from Church Headquarters wondering why we had not picked up our missionaries. We said we were at the airport and waiting for them, they said that they were stuck in immigration and the officials wouldn't let them through.  They patched me through so I could talk to our sisters and found out that they were stuck in immigration in the Trinidad airport....not the Curacao one.  They had been sent to the wrong country. 😕😜 -- I guess since we are still the Trinidad Port of Spain mission that's where the MTC in Mexico just thought they should be sent and no one checked to make sure... We had not had that problem before because all of our Spanish speaking missionaries have come from the Dominican Republic and they were familiar with the change in where the mission home is located.  This was our first set of missionaries since the MTC in the DR was closed.    We were able to get a hold of our wonderful senior couple in Trinidad, the Williams, and they went and rescued them.  They spent a couple of days there before we could get them to Curacao and on to their assignments in Aruba and BonAire.  We Skyped their orientation but we sure missed being able to have them in the mission home.  Sister Williams was really happy about having sisters back in Trinidad though, so she enjoyed them while they were there.

This is Ingeborg Zelinski Reni - A wonderful friend and a pioneer of the church here in Curacao.
She was very well known when she lived here  and came back for the dedication of the Island of Curacao.
There were many people who wanted to interview her while she was here.  She came to the mission home for a
live "Facebook" interview with a very well known man here in Curacao.  We had a couple of our
missionaries here as well.  It was a great opportunity to let more people know about the church and
what we are here doing.

Departing Dinners are always Bitter Sweet.  We love spending this time with our missionaries but we hate seeing them leave.
