YSA Activity & Outgoing Missionaries (14-17 AUG 2019)

CURACAO

The night after I got back to Curacao we had a Young Single Adult activity at the Mission Home.
We sure love being with these wonderful people!!

Departing Missionaries!!

It's like a "gut punch"  everytime we have to send missionaries home.  We miss them so terribly....it's like saying good-bye to our kids. We have literally watched miracles happen in their lives as they have come into the mission young, inexperienced, a little scared and unsure....they leave confident, strong, knowing they can do hard things and most importantly they leave with a strong conviction and commitment to our Savior, Jesus Christ.  The things they learn here will help them throughout the rest of their lives....  The bright side of sending them home is that we get to watch (even if it just be through social media) them move on to the next adventures in their lives.  I absolutely love the day we get to spend with them in Curacao before they head for home.  Such a joy to be around them!!!

Elder Belnap & Elder Norton
They were friends before their missions
but they never served in the same country.
Elder Belnap was assigned to speak Dutch
and served in Suriname, and Elder
Norton was assigned to speak English and served in
Guyana & Trinidad.

They were trying to see how many they could actually fit inside the shoe
you can't really see Elder Stott because he's in the Shadow so
I lightend it in the next picture so you can see him...😂

Sorting Laundry
They threw all their sweaty clothes in the wash
together from hiking......I thought it was fun watching
them work together!

President Baird and I had to go to Trinidad for Stake Conference.
Since it's not a normal day that Suriname Air flys, we had to take American through Miami
Which meant that we got to fly with all our departing missionaries that far!
Usually I stay away from the airport on the morning of the departures....it's
so emotionally difficult for me.  I tell the missionaries that it's like pulling
off a band-aid (do it quick)...   I just say good-bye the night before and then try not to think about them
leaving... They have to leave the mission home by 4:30 in the morning....this morning I didn't have any choice.😍

This is where the groups split...the ones headed through Dallas
and the ones headed through Arizona.
