Guyana Berbice

 It's so Green in Guyana!!
Berbice is about a 2 hour drive from Georgetown.  It is a beautiful drive. (But of course, I wasn't the one driving.....thank goodness).
This is Elder Andrew's younger sister.  Sister Haake  is going over a test with her.  She is taking a class at the church.

This is one area that I have really noticed how the programs of the church are really helping people.  Not just in the short term but really changing lives in a very meaningful way. I met with a lady at the church while we were waiting for interviews that told me how much the "Self Reliance" program had helped she and her husband with budgeting and then starting their own business.  Also, seeing how the "Pathways" program has been able to help many become college educated that otherwise would not have had an opportunity.    Our new Senior Couple, The Bohnes, have just arrived and they are with LDS Charities and will be focused mainly on Humanitarian Efforts.  It has been so thrilling to be a part of all of this work!!! Helping people discover "who" they truly are as children of God and then helping them learn how to improve their lives.

These are two of Elder Andrew's Sisters.
 Such Beautiful Young Women.
The older one has three beautiful children that we got to meet at the devotional that night.

I had so much fun just visiting this day, we stopped at several homes
This family is going to cook for me next time I come!!

I really enjoy sewing so I absolutely Loved these sewing machines!!!  Aren't they cool?  And this lady uses them! 😃

Another Beautiful Family!!!

Elder Andrews' Family
(When I asked Elder Andrews if he had a picture of his family he said he didn't so we are going to print these pictures and take them to him so that he will have pictures of his family - See his story in "Guyana Georgetown")

Morning Walk

In Guyana you see a lot of people selling produce out of the backs of their cars or on stands at the sides of roads.  We stopped at this lady's home and she took us and showed us around her yard.  She buys some things other places and resells them, other things she grows there.  They have a little animal area at their home as well.  She provides a service by driving around neighborhoods so people don't have to go to a store.  She is very resourceful and I was so impressed with how she has made her own business.

This goat was't sure if he was happy we were there or not....lol

Elder Rose giving his departing Testimony - He will be missed!!!

A very "Mission President" look.....Don't you think?
I have always known what an incredible man he is but watching him
in this position, taking on this mantle of Leadership has been a wonderful
experience.  He is so humble and spends so much time on his knees, truly
just trying to do what the Lord wants him to do.

We met this sweet Nun on the airplane as we were leaving Guyana.
She has been in Saint Lucia for 5 years and was headed home
to Liberia.  We told her that Brad & LaWynn (Kyle's brother and Wife) are on a mission in
Liberia right now and gave her a Pass Along card with their name and phone number on it.
She said that her Uncle is a member of The "Mormon" church.
We told her that was just a nick-name for us
and a little about what we believe.
She was so sweet and very excited to see her family after such
a long time away from them.
