President Gonzalas and the Bohnes (9 AUG - 10 AUG 2018)

Elder Gonzalas, President Baird, Sister Baird

Elder Gonzalas is the President of the Carribean Area.
He flew in for a couple of days to do some training with us.
We learned so much from him in the short time that he was here.
We talk to our missionaries all the time about learning through "role play"
which most of them don't like but I learned so much with Elder Gonzalas when he did a
role play with me.  It gave me so many ideas on how best to ask questions and
just reaffirmed the need to follow the spirit in all that we are doing because the Lord
will be able to guide us in what questions to ask and what each individual needs.

The most amazing experiences I have had with that so far have been with the missionaries themselves.  While they are waiting for their interviews with President Baird I like to just talk with them.  All of them have different challenges and struggles.  This last week I had one Elder that just wanted to give up and go home.  As I was talking to him I really felt guided in what I was saying.  We had such a great conversation and when we were done he was smiling and seemed so much happier.  I asked Kyle that night how the interview went and he said, "It was wonderful, he is doing so good".  He was so surprised when I told him that this Elder was wanting to go home when he first came in.  He had not said one thing about that in his interview.  It was such a testimony to me that the Lord guided me while I was visiting with him and I was able to say the things that he needed to hear and help him realize that he CAN do this even though at times it is hard.   What a blessing it is to be involved in this work!!

Elder & Sister Bohne Arrived!!  They are our new Senior Couple that are going to Guyana.  They are serving as our Humanitarian Couple and will do a lot of work with LDS Charities.  There are many projects already going on in our mission and they will be overseeing these as well as finding new areas we can help.  We are so excited to have them join our Mission Family!

We spent the day with them doing some training, filling them in on different aspects of our mission and having them fill us in on the training they received at the MTC.

They were supposed to arrive earlier this year (I believe in February) but then Elder Bohne had some health issues that needed to be resolved.  We are so grateful that things are well now and they are finally here with us.   What a marvelous couple.  So dedicated to the Lord and anxious to serve wherever they can.
