Curacao (4-8 OCT 2018)

CURACAO

We met this beautiful group of ladies in Trinidad at the airport while we were waiting for our flight.  They were having a "girl's weekend" in Curacao, just to get away and relax and enjoy each other's company.  It was fun to run into them when we got to Curacao on the bridge.  We took their picture for them so they could all be in it and then President Baird hopped in one for the "Blog".....don't worry, he wasn't in all their pictures....lol.  πŸ˜‚  Some people ask us if we get tired of traveling because we are constantly in airports and on airplanes....well, we really meet a lot of great people that way.  I have loved the opportunity to meet so many.  In fact, this last trip to Suriname the lady I sat next to said to me, "I think God sent you on this plane so we could be friends!"  I was so touched, but we really did have an instant connection and I felt the same way.  I really feel that God puts people in our path that are ready to hear the message of His restored Gospel...even in airports and on airplanes.

President Baird and I sat next to this man, Brian,  on the plane.  He was headed to Columbia for a vacation.  He had a layover in Curacao and we didn't want him to have to just wait at the airport  because he had never been to Curacao so we took him to see downtown Wilemstaad.  What a wonderful afternoon we had with him.

Making new friends is the BEST part of our mission!!!

The Sisters from BonAire Arrived for Zone Conference so we invited the Sisters serving in Curacao to stay at the mission home as well and we had a wonderful time hosting missionaries for the first time in the Home. We put mattresses in the downstairs area on the floor because the bunk-beds weren't set up yet but I think the sisters still really enjoyed being together.

General Conference

At home we have a tradition of having pancakes and waffles with strawberries and whipped cream on them for General Conference breakfast.  We wanted to continue the tradition here so we invited all the Curacao missionaries over before conference (we just did waffles).  One of my favorite sounds is the sound of happy people so my heart was full as the mission home filled up with the joyful sound of our missionaries!!  They truly do lift me!

Can you tell which feet belong to our hard working sisters and which one is mine?
Love the tan lines!!

We watched general conference at the church and really enjoyed our time with them members.
There was a pot-luck lunch in-between sessions.
