Looks like someone didn't have
Basketball shoesπŸ˜‚

The sisters are always taking "feet" pictures.....
I guess the Elders didn't want to be left out!!
Shows how some of the shoes are pretty worn,
These shoes are a lot better than the ones they wear on a daily basis.
These hardworking Elders spend a lot of time on their feet

Elder Smith got a package from home!!

Food Donation for Venezuelan Migrants.....

Due to the situation in Venezuela, there are hundreds of migrants entering the boarders of Guyana  seeking refuge.  Guyana has an open boarder policy so they are called migrants and not refugees. They are in great need of food and shelter.  Elder and Sister Bohne are our Senior Couple that are working with LDS Charities to provide humanitarian aide to the countries within our mission.  They have several projects ongoing at this time including a wheelchair/prosthetic program, putting a roof on a school, establishing libraries within schools, helping within orphanages, helping provide needed equipment for a public safety organization, food programs and many others.  I don't know how they keep track of it all.  We partner with local organizations to provide these programs.  This helps provide good relations as well as sustainability.  For the Migrants we partnered with the Civil Defense Commission to get these supplies to the people in need.  This is the first of several shipments.  We were invited to join the Lieutenant Colonel on one of the expeditions into the interior to distribute the supplies.  I would love to be able to do that on one of our visits if time allows for that.  It's a two day trip by river....that would be an adventure.

Elder Bohne is a military man so he was right in his element

Sister Bohne didn't want me to stand on the ledge because it made
her feel really short....

The local news covered the event.

One of the things I really enjoy doing is going teaching with the missionaries.  This night we went into the "back-lands"....an area of homes that are very humble.  We went to teach a family with two young girls ages 9 and 12.  They are scheduled to be baptized on the 26th of this month.  The 9-year old was really excited when she asked what she would be wearing for her baptism and the missionaries told her they had a white jumpsuit she could wear.  We were teaching them about keeping the Sabbath Day holy and the importance of the Sacrament.  Elder McMillian was talking about how when you are baptized you are washed clean but then you going to make mistakes throughout your life.  It is not necessary to be re-baptized after making mistakes, you just repent and try to do better.  That is what the Sacrament is for.  By partaking of the Sacrament, you are renewing your covenants with our Savior and made clean again through His atonement.  He said, "It's like....." and then he paused, trying to think of how to explain it to young children.  The 9-year old said, "It's like updating your Facebook or What's app, you are newer and better every-time".    I loved that so much!!  She totally got it!  It really is like we are newer and better each time we partake of the Sacrament when we are constantly repenting and truly trying to do better each day and be more like our Savior.  I think I'm learning more on this mission from others than they are learning from me.  But I really do love bearing testimony of my Savior Jesus Christ!

Calling in at the house (It was one of the nicest in the neighborhood)

These are the two sweet girls we were teaching

Linden.....
President Baird went out to spend the day in Linden with the Weeks looking for a new building for the branch to meet in.  While there he met some wonderful branch members who own a beautiful little spot of land.  They do some gardening, and have some fruit trees and make their own passion fruit juice.

President Baird was pretty excited to have a
Toucan bird on his arm
