Senior Couple's Conference
To start off our conference all the Sisters that wanted to went Friday morning to a local artist's place and painted "Chi Chi" dolls. These are very popular in Curacao. The lady in the Green shirt is the original artist who created the dolls. They paint them and sell them locally and on-line or you can come to a workshop and paint your own. It was interesting to hear her story and she was delightful to associate with.

The theme for our conference was "Strengthen" our mission.
We talked about strengthening the missionaries, strengthening the branches, the members, our light, our relationships and our own personal conversions. We had a wonderful few days of learning from each other, playing some games, attending a couple of baptisms, seeing downtown Curacao and even a little beach time with some snorkeling with sea turtles. What a wonderful weekend!!

This is the "Pink Elephant"....it is a landmark in Curacao. |

I met this wonderful lady, Usha, at the baptism. It was her first time at the church.
We had an instant connection and I already love her!! |

Trying to get back home was a little challenging...
The flight was cancelled....left the next day and then those going on to Guyana got stuck in Trinidad with another cancelled flight. Oh the joys of traveling in our mission. One thing we have learned is to be flexible...
|
The Airlines put the couples up in a Hotel
downtown...we couldn't have them stay at the mission
home because we had new missionaries flying in
that same day. |
