Aruba Movie Event (7-9 NOV 2019)

ARUBA

It was interesting that Last year for my birthday I have a stamp entering Aruba too!!  Kyle said, "Wow, you are spoiled...I take you to Aruba for your birthday every year,"  ...lol, it just happened to be the way our schedule worked out each year...it was not planned.

So when I arrived in BonAire and took my phone off airplane mode...I got a call from Sister Bohne and she was having trouble getting our flu vaccinations out of customs.  The company that shipped them was supposed to make sure that all of the paper work was filled out properly so that we would not have any trouble getting them out of Customs.  This had to be taken care of quickly because they need to be refrigerated.  I was trying to get a hold of people to see if I could resolve the situation when President Baird said we had to go to the church to meet with Sister Ray and Sister Locke...I must admit that I was a little irritated that he kept insisting that I go....I thought he could go without me so that I could take care of the issue.  He finally convinced me to come and just use the internet at the church to continue working on solving the problem.  When I got there all the Aruba missionaries were there with cake and ice cream to surprise me for my birthday.  😉🎉  No wonder he was insistent...and I almost blew the whole surprise.

Sister Ray and Sister Locke made this one.  It was a delicious cake with flan on the top...
they learned how to make it from an older lady in the branch from Argentina.

We had the wonderful opportunity to attend a baptism while we were there.  These are always highlights for us.  This beautiful girl made it even more special.  After she was baptized she sang a song and bore her testimony about how the gospel has changed her life and how much she loves going to church.  She then expressed gratitude for her Uncle for helping her along the way.   She especially loves these Sister Missionaries who were the ones that taught her.  She wants to go on a mission when she gets older because of their example.

The Renaissance has a private island.  We decided to go over and do our morning walk and have breakfast over there.  I'm sure glad we did, it was beautiful.

Baby Flamingos...they haven't got their color yet.

The walking path was beautiful but not very long....
so much for exercise...lol

This iguana liked the flamingo food.

The flamingos were so tame they would let you feed them.

It looks like we were really relaxing...truth is we
just "hopped" in long enough to take the picture..
