Curacao (15-17 Oct 2019)

Curacao

Celebration of the Church being Established on the Island 40 years ago

This little part of our trip this time was not originally scheduled.  Kyle received a notice that Curacao was having a special day with a meeting where all the media and press of country were invited to attend.  Sister Brown had arranged it as part of the public affairs so that people could ask questions about the church and we could get more positive exposure.  This was all done in commemoration of the Church being established on the Island 40 years ago.

I must admit that when I found out that we were going to need to rearrange our schedule to make it here I was not excited about it.  There was even part of me that just wanted to stay in Guyana and let President Baird do this part of the tour without me.  (My daughter laughed when I told her that....she said, "Mom did you ever think before you left on your mission that you would even consider having dad leave you in a third-world country?..."  - I laughed with her and said no, but I have come to love each of our countries and the people so much that I wouldn't hesitate now.)  I kept coming up with reasons why we couldn't do this and told Kyle he should have one of his counselors just do the interview.  Kyle, being the wonderful person that he is, is always trying to figure out how we can do things and doesn't dwell on the reasons why we can't.....With his faith it always seems to work out.  I'm trying to be more like that.

After all was said and done I was really glad we were there.  Being back in Curacao also gave me an opportunity to do laundry at home instead of on the "road"....that's always nice.  It's pretty tricky sometimes because we are usually gone for about 4 weeks at a time and only two of the hotels we stay in have laundry facilities....we make it work though.  😊

Sister Brown....She went the extra mile to make sure all the details were perfect.
She did a wonderful job!!

This was the panel that was set up to give information and answer questions from the media.
