Youth MTC and Movie Event

One of our goals while on our mission is to strengthen and build the Youth & Young Single Adults. To do this we are focusing on more regular, meaningful activities. We are hoping that by doing this, we can encourage each branch to hold weekly activities. We know that as we do this they will learn and grow in the gospel of Jesus Christ and strengthen their relationships with the Savior.

This activity was a special one. We were able to get Mitch Davis (the director and producer of The Other Side of Heaven & The Other Side of Heaven II), and his beautiful wife Michelle to bring the movie "The Other Side of Heaven II - Fire of Faith" down to our mission. We were able to arrange with movie theaters in all of our areas to show the movie and have a special fireside (questions & answers) after the movie. It was an amazing success in all areas of our mission. We would like to thank Mitch & Michelle for joining us on this adventure.....I think we about wore them out with all the traveling but they were great sports and we were able to do some fun things with them along the way as well - I hope they feel like it was worth their time to come down, we know they made a difference in this part of the world. Also, we want to thank Elder John and Jean Groberg for being supportive of this idea we had for these activities.

The Guyana activity started with a mini MTC at the church. All of the youth received "calls to serve in different areas of the world"....this is how they separated them into groups. Then they did mini classes to teach them how to be missionaries and how they can prepare.

This was the 3rd Youth activity in Guyana this year and we have seen an increase in those attending. The first conference at the beginning of the year had about 100 attending, the second one there was 140 and this one there were close to 300. This is why we are really confident that these are helping our youth and YSA come together in a powerful way.
