Our Mission Experience: Valentine's Day (14 FEB 2019)

Our Flight Canceled Adventure.......

We were headed back from Guyana to Curacao and our Connecting flight in Trinidad got cancelled. Suriname Airlines put us up in a Hotel near the airport while they were trying to work the situation out. Instead of leaving at 10 in the morning we ended up leaving the Hotel at midnight to catch a flight at 1:30am. We made the most of our evening by having dinner at the Hotel...off the "delayed flight menu"....(this must happen often for them to have a menu with that title). We were pretty tired by the time we finally arrived in Curacao. We met some wonderful people that were on the same flight. There was a couple from Trinidad that were celebrating her birthday. We had a wonderful conversation with them while we were waiting at the airport. Then Carribean Airlines came around and wished us a happy Valentine's day and had us do a little spot for their facebook page. Then the airport people came around and took our picture for their spot as well. WE also met a wonderful couple who were headed to Curcao for a getaway. They had saved and scheduled one night at a resort and the resto of their nights at a bed and breakfast. They were able to call and get the night changed to the next night for the resort (luckily so they didn't just lose their money) but then they were having a hard time finding a place where they could check in at 4 in the morning and then get a later check out. They were slightly panicked so we invited them to come and stay with us. We really enjoyed getting to know them a little better. That's one of my favorite things about this mission is making new friends and being able to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with everyone we meet in all kinds of ways!! What a wonderful work to be involved in.
